Jenna's Journey

How does one begin a journey?

This is the story of my niece Jenna, a dynamic 25 year old living in Miami, Florida who lost her way for awhile there.

 Jenna's mom lost her battle to breast cancer and left deep pain, wounds, unresolved issues and mostly a beautiful girl deprived of a woman who loved her deeply but died too young. The pain is deep and for Jenna it was too much to deal with. As with many people  who have had a traumatic life event  Jenna turned to food. It was where she sought comfort. Her weight just kept ballooning,  yet we never talked about it. It was the big white elephant sitting in the room that everyone pretends is not there. 

To be honest it was easiest to say nothing. To pretend all is well...not to delve too deeply. I was just hoping with time and love Jenna would turn her health around on her own. Unfortunately this became too overpowering a battle.
